Root Healing Schedule
The schedule for a typical Iboga Retreat starts with a pickup from the airport with a chance to settle in and have initial one-on-one interviews. Once all the guests have arrived, we have an orientation that covers everything you need to know to have the best experience at Root Healing.
Day two is ceremony day, a day full of relaxing activities to get you in the right headspace before your ceremony. From yoga to breathwork and further meditation & counseling, we make sure that you go into your ceremony fully replenished & calm. In the late afternoon, our doctor will check your vitals, do an additional EKG and clear you for a safe ceremony. The ceremony starts after it gets dark, around 8-9 pm, where we meet around a fire and have what we call the “Fire Talk.” Later in the evening, you will lay down in the temple space and do a “Psychospiritual.” At some point in the night/ early morning, you will be brought back to your rooms after which we will be checking on you consistently.
This process flows right into the third day, what’s known as the “Processing Day.” This is your chance to turn inward, avoid distractions, and get to the root of why you made this journey in the first place. For some, this day can be a bit challenging and for others, not at all. While we are always available and continually monitoring you, this is a day to truly be with yourself. The most important thing to remember is to avoid distractions or anything that takes you away from yourself and/or what you might be feeling or thinking.
On the fourth day, “Integration Day,” we will go out as a group for a day trip. Thailand has so much to offer for beautiful outings from temples to waterfalls, exploring the city, or hiking in nature. It’s a time to be relaxed, get to know one another and have some fun!
The end of the first integration day completes the first cycle of the Iboga Retreat and the following day we begin with the same sequence: Ceremony, Processing, and Integration. During the evening of the last day, we will have a closing ceremony and discussion to seal in everything you’ve learned and provide the next steps.
Retreats at Root Healing follow a strict protocol that ensures our guests have a safe Iboga retreat experience. We have your safety in mind from the time we have our first interview, where we will ask you some health evaluation questions. The next step in our process is collecting your Health Intake form, EKG, and Liver Function Test for our expert medical team to review. If you are on any medications, our Pharmacist will determine if there are any contraindications and work with our doctor on a pre-retreat plan.
Once you have arrived at Root Healing, you will be monitored by our team and have your vitals checked before ceremonies, as mentioned above.
Accomodations and Food
Iboga retreats at Root Healing are always held at a beautiful & comfortable location with premium accommodations. You’ll have your own private bed & bath, stunning outdoor scenery and calming spaces to reflect in. At Root Healing, we know the importance of creating a safe & nourishing space for our guests to do this work in. We always seek to make you feel comfortable, cared for and relaxed throughout your time here.
All of the food at Root Healing is healthy, mostly organic and local. We have specialized meal plans for each phase of the process. On ceremony days we make light yet nourishing food to prepare you for the evening ahead. On processing days, we serve replenishing and fortifying options to support you throughout the day. While meals are prepared in house most days of the retreat, during our integration day-trips, we will eat out at wonderful local restaurants.
While the retreat experience is incredible & transformative, the opportunity after leaving is just as important. Iboga stays with you up to 6 months after your experience. During that time you have the opportunity to rewire your brain, take control of your life & story. For this reason, we care a lot about integration. All participants get integration coaching calls, as well as “homework,” to assist in furthering your relationship with the medicine and the goals you came with.
