Tobias Erny

Tobias Erny began his career in the chemical-pharmaceutical industry in Basel, Switzerland, where he first experienced the healing potential of Ibogaine in 2006.

Intrigued by its vast possibilities, he committed to extensive research and work with this remarkable molecule. In 2008, he started working with the traditional plant medicine Iboga.

He is initiated into the Dissoumba-Fang tradition of Bwiti and regularly visits Gabon to deepen his understanding.

Alongside the team at Nachtschattenverlag—publisher of Albert Hofmann and Stanislav Grof in the German-speaking world—he published the German standard on Iboga, organized conferences, and lectured on the subject.

In addition to his educational efforts at universities and various events, he serves as the Co-Director of the Global Iboga Therapy Alliance (GITA), a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about Iboga and its alkaloids. GITA promotes Iboga’s sacramental and therapeutic benefits through sustainability initiatives, scientific research, education, and knowledge transfer while also acting as a provider hub.

Currently, he is conducting a study focused on the effects of Iboga microdosing for patients with Parkinson’s disease.
